This is a follow-up diary to the one I posted last night from my visit on Monday to the conservative Hudson Institute to hear a speech from British neoconservative Douglas Murray [full speech on PoliticsTV].

This diary focues on Murray's strong distate for multiculturalism. After a little research, I found out this hatred of multiculturalism was not at all limited to Mr. Murray; he was merely echoing what many others have said before him.

On Monday, I took my camera across downtown DC to attend a speech at the conservative Hudson Institute where a noted British neo-conservative commentator was giving a speech. I made no effort to hide my identity, or that I worked for an online video network that covers politics, and yes, does have a particular bent.

I've begun transcribing selections from the speech (given by author Douglas Murray) and doing additional research into whether some of his particular views of neo-conservatism are shared broadly or are unique to him. From the little I know about neo-con ideology, my reactions upon hearing Murray's speech (presented in full on PoliticsTV) run the gamut from "this seems a cynical outlook of the world, but it's understandable given recent world events" to more often "it's disconerting to know that there are people who harbor this grim outlook on the world, and worse, that they have money and power at the present time."

So the Republicans in the U.S. House stayed up until almost 2am tonight to give Paris Hilton some extra money (there's something funny about millions of dollars being showered on Paris Hilton in the dead of night, but I'll leave that joke for someone else to finish).

This month's American Prospect breakfast is with Sen. Chuck Schumer (and it's tomorrow at some un-godly hour of the morning, which for me means anything before 11am). Hopefully I'll be able to get in a question, and since getting one of my best questions yet from ronald III (see here and here for background), I figured I'd see if anyone here's got something pressing to ask Schumer.

I've talked with a couple other folks who are planning on attending the breakfast tomorrow morning, and someone will definitly ask about Lamont/Lieberman (probably more than one question), so other stuff would be cool.

Just got back from the office, so I'm going to grab some dinner and then check back at comments, so I'll be back in like 30 minutes. Also, the breakfast a bunch of progressives (including yours truly) had with Grover Norquist is now online --- here's the transcript. I'll spend some time tomorrow writing up my thoughts now that I've got access to the complete transcript.

Last Friday, I attended (on behalf of PoliticsTV) the most recent American Prospect breakfast, and this month's guest was none other than longtime conservative activist Grover Norquist.

The transcript of the breakfast will be available soon on the American Prospect's website, but after taking some much needed R & R this weekend, I wanted to share a couple of my initial thoughts from meeting Norquist and some of the insights I gained from him about the conservative movement/machine (as he's a pretty big player in said movement).

Just sitting here in the press room next to Bob Geiger from Democrats.com (thanks for all the links Bob, you rock!) doing some last minute blogging, about to gather my bags, and get on the 5-hour flight back to DC (Jason, the other PoliticsTV producer who is out here with me, is on the same flight back) --- with the time difference, we're getting in at like midnight ET (into BWI --- ugg).

The transcript of the breakfast I attended with Howard Dean is now online. The night before the breakfast, I asked folks on here what would be a good question(s) to ask, and the question I ended up asking Dean was from ronald III.

The question was about Diebold and voting fraud and I picked the question because after searching around, there didn't seem to be almost anything on record from Dean or the DNC on the subject (and it's an important subject).

I was invited to have breakfast with Democratic Party chairman Howard Dean tomorrow morning. It's the third event in a monthly series hosted by the American Prospect between elected officials and a group of progressive journalists [transcript from last month's event with Congressman Sherrod Brown is here].

I'm working on a short list of questions, but figured I would put an open call to anyone here who has a question for Dean they would like me to ask. The American Prospect should have a transcript and audio of the event available sometime in the next week, so once it's available, I'll post another diary for the benefit of everyone here.

I'm probably going to bed within the next 30 minutes, but will check the comments thread about 7am (DC time) when I get up to see what questions folks on Kos have for Dean before I head down to the breakfast. Thanks in advance for any and all wisdom, insight and provoking questions! -- David

ME: What do you think should be a sort of overarching progressive message when it comes to globalization writ large that's going to really resonate with voters in Ohio?

Thanks to everyone who posted comments on my diary last night. The breakfast, which was attended by about a dozen progressive journalists, was held in the basement of the U.S. Capital. To answer jbou's big, pressing question that was the first comment on my diary last night, Sherrod prefers bacon over sausage, and likes his eggs scrambled (having said that, I should also note this was a continental breakfast). The whole event lasted about an hour, and there should be full audio from the event available sometime next week (I'll post another follow-up diary when the file is up).
